Jam Science AR developed one of the first online Augmented Reality systems using Flash.

The project started with a period of intensive research to develop an easily-accessible browser-based AR technology. Rather than using established software, we utilised emerging Flash imaging and 3D software to produce an innovative marker system.

We explored how this software could be used to teach KS3 Science, and complement other online resources. Through use of a physics simulation we produced 'Cows on Ice', an activity where users could effect the strength and direction of forces with AR markers to guide objects through a series of obstacle courses. By adjusting virtual magnets, fans, and elastic surfaces, pupils could experiment with, and learn about forces and motion.

As well as the pre-set obstacle courses, the activity is designed to enable children to create their own arrangements for others to pit their wits against.
