INTRA-SIM is a transport policy tool developed for Halcrow that extends the TC-SIM application.
"The Integrated Transport Appraisal and Simulation (INTRA-SIM) tool simulates the strategic choices available to transport and urban planners, wider decision makers and stakeholders in terms of moving towards a sustainable travel future for Oxfordshire.
The goal is to achieve an optimum balance against multi-criteria objectives - including economic, climate change, local environmental, accessibility and safety indicators. Multiple policy measures can be selected, at varying levels of application, and packaged to create scenarios of the future that achieve optimised benefits across impact areas. Low carbon transport pathways can hence be assessed against wider sustainability impacts.
The working methodology draws on multi-modal modelling, scenario testing, forecasting and backcasting approaches. The results can be explored by different geographic areas, including Oxfordshire, Oxford urban area, large and market towns, rural areas and districts."
