The Foundation for Democracy and Sustainable Development (FDSD) is a small charity that develops ideas so that democratic decision-making can work better for sustainable development.

Having recently changed their name from the Environment Foundation, the FDSD wanted a new website that would reflect their work within the field of democracy. We proposed that a comments-enabled site using Wordpress as a CMS would provide a suitable platform for discussion, blogging and easy updating. It would also allow the site to grow in the future by the addition of other features such as forums, wikis etc.

Zupa captured the requirements for the site and provided the FDSD with a bespoke theme and tools that allow the client to add in new content. Several off-the-shelf plugins were used to enhance the functionality of the site either for the front-end user or for the admininistrator. A bespoke plugin was required for the changeable header images.

Once the site had been built and tested, we provided the client with a fully comprehensive document outlining the template build and all the plugins. This document will be invaluable if further development work is required on the site. To complete the handover, a one day training session was given at the FDSD office which covered how to update the content of the site, moderate comments, add user roles and basic photoshop techniques for the web.
