Acland Burghley school in North London is a large mixed comprehensive secondary school that regularly gets mentioned as being one of the top achieving schools in London.

When the head teacher asked the BBC for recommendations of companies to develop their website, zupa were put forward as a suggestion.

The school already had a website with a bespoke Content Management System (CMS) but it was not providing the necessary tools to update the site effectively. The school also wanted to expand the types of content that could be showcased on the website and this was an important part of our brief.

Rather than re-writing the bespoke CMS, we decided it would be more advantageous to use an Open-Source CMS, which would allow the school to regularly update the functionality of the site by adding new modules.

Having looked at the different options on the Open-Source CMS market we went ahead with Mambo (now superseded by Joomla). At the time Mambo's developer community was well-established and the choice of modules more than covered the functionality that was required of the site.

After two training sessions at the school, the administration of the site was handed over to a member of staff who continues to update the site to this day.
